My, my Quicksilver, how you've changed since I last saw you..[small rant]

First Look At Future Sentinel X Men Days of Future Past First Look At The Giant Sized Sentinel Mark X in X Men: Days of Future Past

As we all know, X-Men: Days Of Future Past looks fucking awesome. [I talked about it briefly here] We've been teased with The Sentinels which are shown in the picture above [II hate to admit it, but they almost look better than the purple ones that I remember when I was a kid!], and even characters like Quicksilver and The Scarlet Witch. [which makes sense because spoiler: they're two out of  four of Magneto's kids.] We know that Evan Peters of American Horror Story fame is playing Quicksilver and that Elizabeth Olsen is playing The Scarlet Witch [as seen below]

I actually like the idea of this; provided the costume doesn't look too cheesy..

———————————————————————————–

ON THE CONTRARY when it comes to Evan Peters playing Quicksilver, I'm kind of left disappointed [which you'll see why in a minute]. When I was younger, I watched the X-Men animated series, which showed me that Quicksilver is well- quick, and a bad ass. Even his [somewhat tight] spandex silver and blue costume was pretty awesome.  However, when translated on the big screen, I feel it didn't work out so well, and by that I mean.. well, I'm gonna let the picture do the talking for itself. [below]

[Left: Evan Peters as Quicksilver[?]. Right: the Quicksilver I grew up with - the proper Quicksilver]

Okay, so who's the guy who came up with this monstrosity?! I don't mean to judge so fucking quick, [I prefer to wait until the movie comes out before deciding if I like or dislike something] but that's not remotely close to what Quicksilver is supposed to look like; that 'look' is just..bad. His hair looks too long, he's wearing..goggles[?], and his 'costume' is just a leather jacket with jeans? [I mean, that's what I see..] Okay, I'll let this go until we see the film as a whole, but I just have no words.. [to see all 25 X-Men: Days Of Future Past Empire issue covers, check out the Firework Eyes [and] Haunted Hearts Facebook page here] Let's change the subject to avoid further ranting, shall we?

Anyone in the mood for a nostalgic trip back to 2002? I remember when I would visit a certain friend [he knows who he is] over a weekend and we'd spend the nights playing a little PS2 game about a raccoon and his two friends [who were, of course, a fucking hippo and turtle] known as Sly Cooper. It ultimately had 2 sequels spawn of it's popularity, and for good reason! Fast forward to modern day and we're teased with a measly 2 minute and 20 second teaser trailer at an animated Sly Cooper film! [teaser trailer dropped today actually, it's like I planned that or something..] Fucking took long enough for us to get a film out of him and the guys, am I right? [too bad we gotta wait until 2016 to see the film..] The trailer really only introduces the main characters, but it certainly hypes this up for fans of the games! If you haven't seen the trailer, you can see it by clicking here!

Remember before Christmas when I did a post on The Krampus? [if not, here's a link for you here- go nuts!] Here's a crazy idea for you; imagine if Kevin Smith - who is known for comedies like Jay and Silent Bob, Clerks, Dogma and the horror film Red State [which I REALLY need to get to watching..I think it's on Netflix?] - wanted to make an anthology film [basically four short films in one, all working together as one film. think of Trick 'r Treat and Creepshow..] based on Santa's little demon helper.. and I'm not just making this up! coming to the big screen is THE Krampus film we've been waiting for [at least I hope so, I trust you, Kevin Smith!] known as Comes The Krampus!  , is a film that's being made by Smith and his group SModcast. Here's what Kevin Smith had to say about it during the podcast;
"I was goofing around with Mr. Edumacation himself, Professor Andy McElfresh, when we accidentally brainstormed a Christmas horror anthology that would eschew the gruesome spin on Santa Claus, and instead embrace the Scandinavian/German Kid-Eating Christmas creature known as the The Krampus. That podcast was released 12/23/13. It took us less than a month, but Andy and I have finished the screenplay for a flick we’re calling COMES THE KRAMPUS! It’s 99 pulse-pounding pages of what’s essentially SModCo’s CREEPSHOW, with four terrifying tales stitched together by a freaky framing device. It was a blast to write and totally new to me, as I never actually wrote a screenplay WITH someone else before. And now, to extend the spirit of collaboration even further, I’M GONNA CO-DIRECT THE FLICK WITH THE SMODCO FAMILY! Andy McElfresh will direct the “The Krampus vs. The 3rd Grade” episode [SO fucked up], Jason Mewes [yes – THAT Jason Mewes] will direct the “Hitler’s Krampus” episode [twisted period piece], I will direct the “Mask Maker” episode [the Gothic horror piece], Carol Banker will direct the “The Proposal” episode [which is fucking nuts], and Jennifer Schwalbach will direct “The Bad Babysitter” – which is the framing device that holds the whole mess together. Jordan Monsanto will produce for SModcast Pictures and the twin SModCo cherries on the top of this scary sundae? I’m gonna force my Bro Scotty Mo[sier] to act in it and Babble-Meister RALPH GARMAN will feature in every episode!"

So now I turn over to you guys, what do you think about Kevin Smith making a horror anthology about The Krampus? and am I really the only one who doesn't like Quicksiver's live-action costume? let me know! HAPPY 100th POST: Here's some stuff that you may have missed this week!!

BRUCE CAMPBELL IS COMING TO OTTAWA'S COMIC-CON MAY 2014!

http://thefocusedfilmographer.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/bruce-campbell-4.jpg

GROOVY, BABY! This is easily my favorite news right now. Being a Canadian, our comic-cons [at least Ottawa's] usually attract guests from older 'geekery'. [the last time I went- 2 years ago- we got Lou Ferrigno and Patrick Stewart] But that doesn't stop us from going! The one thing I regret from my first comic-con was that same 2 years ago: due to the insanely long line up, I missed out on meeting Elvira. [that's like a horror fan's wet dream!] BUT this year, we're getting someone that I can't help but squeal at the idea of!  We're getting Bruce Campbell, The King himself, and I'm fucking stoked! I will be booking that weekend off and I promise that I will be getting a picture with him! [and of course, it will be posted here! COME'ON AND GET HERE ALREADY MAY 2014!]

MARVEL'S X-MEN APOCALYPSE ALREADY CONFIRMED FOR THE BIG SCREEN?

 http://x.annihil.us/u/prod/marvel/i/mg/2/00/4be83bc62cace.jpg
It was quite the bombshell (in nerd terms) when it was announced yesterday that 20th Century Fox would be releasing another X-Men film so fast on the heels of next summer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, and it will be called X-Men: Apocalypse. So that was huge, but what can we gather now in terms of details about what this new film project will look like? One of our fellow nerd news websites thinks that they know they answer.
According to Bleeding Cool, X-Men: Apocalypse will have “a clear narrative thread that will string the two pictures together, and the character of Apocalypse is a good part of how this will work.”

Feels kinda fast, doesn't it? However, when it was announced on Tuesday that 20th Century Fox would be releasing [yet] another X-Men film even with next summer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past not even released yet! Naturally, it came as a shock to a lot of comic book fans [myself included!] and it has been reported that it'll be called X-Men: Apocalypse. Where does Apocalypse fit in the [already fucked up] X-Men film story line? One of my more favorite nerd websites; Bleeding Cool, seems to think it has the answer.. According to Bleeding Cool [link here], X-Men: Apocalypse will have:
“a clear narrative thread that will string the two pictures together, and the character of Apocalypse is a good part of how this will work.”
Being as Apocalypse has his own comic book arc called 'Age of Apocalypse'; I'm safely assuming that this one won't be the last. X-Men: Apocalypse is slated to be in theaters 2016.

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN2 GOT IT'S FIRST TRAILER

http://sciencefiction.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/AmazingSpiderMan2Banner.jpg

This was a long time coming. From small hints at the plot, to screen shots that made no sense. Naturally, a trailer was what we needed to clear at least a little bit of our confusion. [hell, I made a post here wondering if we really did see a Green Goblin screenshot] I'm super stoked for this sequel, cause it's finally getting the story right! At one point in the trailer, there's even hints at the Sinister Six [seen below]. If you haven't seen the trailer, then stop reading this, and click here!

[Could those be Vulture's wings on the left, and are those Doctor Octopus's 'arms' on the right?]

REMEMBER HOW BAD LEGION  WAS? IT'S GETTING IT'S OWN SHOW TITLED 'DOMINION'
[I wish I could say I was joking.]

  http://img2-3.timeinc.net/ew/dynamic/imgs/100120/Legion-Paul-Bettany_400.jpg

If you're anything like me, you expected big things from the 2010 movie Legion. It was a film about the end of the world [isn't everything now a days?] and pitted demons against angels. It even had Doug Jones as a crazy Ice Cream Man- I mean, that's pretty fucking hardcore, right? except it wasn't. It was brutal to watch: with terrible acting, and terrible character development, I can't believe I actually finished the movie. Worst of all, the ending. Oh God, the ending.. [excuse the short rant]SPOILER; what do you mean the angels/demons just 'talk their differences out'?! Sorry, I'm glad that's off my chest. However, even though the movie was just plain bad [and I mean that as lightly as humanly possible], it seems Syfy has green lit a reboot as a TV show, which is going to be called“Dominion” which is supposedly going to be based on the awful 2010 film. The only thing confirmed so far is the show is set in the futuristic year 25 A.E. and revolves around battles between good and evil angels in what used to be Las Vegas. If we're lucky, the show may be half-decent..half.

REMEMBER THOSE SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK BOOKS? LOOKS LIKE IT'S COMING TO A THEATER NEAR YOU!

http://www.ginacrat.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/scary-stories.jpg

Oh childhood memories. I remember these books well- I'm trying to find copies of them in fact- [bonus points to someone who can help me out!] If you had your hands on these when I was younger, you were considered one of the brave kids. These stories revolved around all sorts of scary shit; from spiders crawling out of a boil on someone's face, to a clown who used a cleaver on kids who didn't laugh at his jokes; these books were fucking terrifying.. It was a wonder these were in children's libraries at school! [I remember seeing them mainly in the Scholastic Book Orders in grade4 and up.] But what if I was to tell you that the writers of some of the SAW films are writing a script to making a movie out of these books? Pretty fucking hardcore, right? Apparently the news became confirmed when a pitch from SAW, Piranha 3DD, Pacific Rim and Feast writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan were part of a competitive bidding for the project to make this book series into a film. So far, all they've said is that the film will be “about a group of outcast kids who stand up to their fears to save their town when nightmares come to life." Stephen Gammell [who did the artwork for these books], I don't know where you are, or what you're up to now a days; but know that your art successfully scared the fuck out of me as a kid. I applaud you for that, since that's clearly what you intended to do, and it fucking worked!
