Are you as stoked as I am about these films?? I sure hope so!!

I have some awesome stuff to talk about in this post; this is legitimately the first time in a while I've been this excited for movie related info! From Comic Book adaptations to long awaited sequels; this is gonna be fun to talk about! So without delaying any further than I already have, let's begin! starting, of course, with some info on the Sinister Six film!

http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/7/79709/2219020-sinister_six__earth_616__001.jpg

Sony's Sinister Six film has an official Director:
Who is it, you ask? If you follow me on Letterboxd, you'd know of one my favorite horror films of recent years is [obviously] The Cabin In The Woods. I love the camera work, the direction it took, everything about it is perfect. [in my opinion anyway] For this reason, I'm beyond stoked that Sinister Six's Director is none other than Drew Goddard! He seems to be getting a lot of attention from MARVEL as he's also penning the screen play, and even writing the pilot episode of the upcoming Daredevil series! Only thing is how the fuck are they going to make a movie out of a group of six villains? These guys aren't exactly good. Just what the hell does Goddard have up in store for us? More importantly, will it be worth watching?

is there WRECK-IT-RALPH sequel coming? :
Moving away from comics for a moment, let's talk animated films. I'm sure I wasn't alone in the theater cheering during the film Wreck-It-Ralph. It had awesome video game cameos,  the story was touching as all heck, and it was an all around fun time. But do we really need a sequel? I mean, I feel like the first end perfectly. What else can be done with the characters? Unless they work together on a new threat? [all that's known about this sequel is that "it's in the process of being written".]

Is the Goonies finally getting it's sequel? Sounds like it! :
Clearly, it's been awhile since the first Goonies film was on the big screen, and rumors of a sequel have been around since at least 2007. The idea had crashed and ultimately - burned - a dozen times; but now we're getting something that sounds a little more official. In a recent interview, Director of the original, Richard Donner, has stepped up and said that a return to the Goonies is [finally] on its way! The other thing is what would this sequel be about? I'm just saying, the actors from the original are not exactly the same age as they were the first time.. like more than 25 years older! So would it include new kids to do the adventuring? Or are we going to see a middle-aged version of the Goonies hitting the big screen? [I don't know how I feel about a middle aged version..]

I can't even contain my excitement for this!
So how do we feel about the idea of a new Goonies film? yay or nay? More importantly; how fucking awesome is it that Drew Goddard is doing the Sinister Six film?! Also, if you're interested: I recently saw Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and even wrote a review on it: read it here!

DID I MENTION IT'S 2014 NOW? [first post of 2014]

[hey look - it's me on Christmas. ~ an actual nice photo of me.]

First off, I hope everyone had an awesome Christmas and got a bunch of kick-ass stuff! However, now with Christmas finally over, [and finally me finally getting a day - or in this case weekend - off work; I've been working nearly every day since December 26th -_-] I can get back to what I enjoy doing most: writing about crap that most people either already know, or don't have time to look into! However, this is why I write here, so let's move on from me at work/Christmas, and get down to it!

———————————————————————————–
  • Wait, it's HIM getting married?!
 deadpoolwedding1
If you look carefully enough at the photo abovee, it looks like everyone has shown up to the wedding; from Wolverine, to Captain America! Even the fucking She-Hulk is there, with Nightcrawler as the priest?? But who's wedding is this? Is the picture too small? Sorry, let me zoom in on the blushing groom and his wife- that should help, right? [below]

Screen Shot 2014-01-02 at 8.55.36 PM

Yep. The Merc With The Mouth is getting married! [do I see Cable as the best man? haha oh, Marvel.] But to whom is the question [as you can see, she's being left a secret for now..]; any guesses? I haven't read enough recent Deadpool to hazard any guesses. [let me know in the comments?] Marvel even gave us an 'invitation' , which is both weird and cool. I take that back - it's too badass NOT to share [below]

  •   I'm actually willing to go see The Marked Ones?
1-1paranormal-activity-the-marked-ones
In my family, it's no secret that I am the horror fan of the bunch; but if there's one horror series that I'm not that a huge fan of: it's Paranormal Activity. Now before you shoot me for saying that, I can't just say this without mentioning that I actually really enjoyed the first film- it was shot well, felt real, and got a bunch of people scared of living in their own home.. which is where [in my opinion] they should have stopped. They had a good thing going for them, and they've dragged it out to a whopping 4 sequels [including 'The Marked Ones' which is a side story?] ! BUT, I've heard loads of good things about The Marked Ones, and based on trailers- it actually looks half decent. This is why I've decided that I'm going to bite my tongue until I've seen the film; which I'm doing sometime soon. Whether or not it's worthwhile, is to be determined.

  •  [and for the sad news of the week] James Avery passes away at 68 years. [RIP]
http://cdn.screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/james-avery-passes-away1.jpg

As a '90s kid, I feel like I grew up with some fucking cool shows: I watched shows like Family Matters, Full House, The X-Files, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, TMNT [animated series], and most importantly; The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air. Watching these shows often times made me happy to know that people could write such an awesome script and create such loving characters. Fresh Prince was no different. I would always laugh when Uncle Phil [played by the wonderful James Avery] would give Will Smith trouble for sneaking a girl into his room, or anything/everything ridiculous that only Will could do. According to sources close to the actor, he had recently gone through open heart surgery - and apparently things took a turn for the worse. To make this post more upsetting, Alfonso Ribeiro- who played Carleton Banks on the show posted the following post to his Facebook [below]
Screen Shot 2014-01-01 at 5.20.12 PM

As well as playing Uncle Phil, James Avery also did the voice work for Shredder and Splinter in the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon! [the one I used to watch too.. ouch /:] So long Uncle Phil, RIP.

So to get away from the sad news, and onto the better news; what did you think about Deadpool- The Merc With The Mouth- getting married?! [weird, right? I mean, what the fuckkkk?] Or what about The Marked Ones? Have you seen the film yet? What were your thoughts on it? Let me know in the comments!

Guillermo Del Toro is working on The Simpsons' NEWEST 'Treehouse Of Horrors!'

http://www2.macleans.ca/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/586353_f496.jpg

Wen I first got into The Simpsons, the one thing that stuck out specifically was the Halloween specials. I always found that Matt Groening knew what he was doing because each and every "Treehouse Of Horror" was significantly different than the ones previous.. or at least until recently. [I feel that they're slowly becoming a bit bland..] Be that as it may, The Simpsons are now on their XXIV [that's "24th" for those that aren't good with roman numerals.] Treehouse Of Horror and it turns out that Guillermo Del Toro is helping out!

———————————————————————————–

for those unaware, Del Toro is the man behind some amazing movies such as [but not limited to]; Hellboy [1 & 2], Pan's Labyrinth, Chronos, Pacific Rim, among many others! Treehouse Of Horror XXIV arrives on October 6th, 2013 and it sounds like it could be really good![here's hoping!] The following quote is from the press release about The Treehouse Of Horrors XXIV, and it actually gives me some hope for the newest addition from The Simpsons!
"The opener of the 24th annual “Treehouse of Horror” is from Guillermo Del Toro and features monsters and classic characters from horror films throughout history. In “Oh The Places You’ll D’oh,” the first of three spine-tingling stories, Homer rides around Springfield wreaking havoc as “The Fat in The Hat” in a rhyming Dr. Seuss-ian tale. In “Dead and Shoulders,” Bart is beheaded during a kite accident, his head is attached to Lisa’s body and they must live together as one. The final terrifying tale, “Freaks no Geeks,” features Mr. Burns’ traveling circus, The Burnsum and Bailey Circus, which has stopped in Springfieldland in the 1930s. Trapeze artist Marge and Strong Man Homer are performers and things go awry when circus freak Moe starts to make advances towards Marge in the all-new “Treehouse of Horror XXIV” episode of The Simpsons” airing Sunday, Oct. 6 (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT) on FOX."
Personally, I think that Guillermo Del Toro will be an awesome addition because he has knowledge of the horror genre, and he is a fantastic writer/director. However, I haven't ever thought about him working on an animated series, so I guess I'll have to watch in order to really decide.

DVD Boxset Of The Day; Beetlejuce [the animated series]

 http://poggroup.com/td/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Beetlejuice-cartoon.png

One of the reasons I started this blog was to mention things about horror movies/movies in general that I like [or that I'm excited for] & also to give information on things that geeks like myself would enjoy. Lately, I haven't done much but catch up on the movies I haven't watched yet [that I felt the need to finally see] / work / school. But this past Wednesday, After I finished my slideshow assignment for Philosophy class, I decided that I should check Facebook and I came across something beautiful.. Beetlejuice; The Animated Series is coming out as a box set on both DVD and Blu-ray! [FINALLY!]

Being the Tim Burton fan that I am, I can honestly say I have been waiting for this for as long as I can remember.. which feels like forever! For those of you that aren't familiar with the series, it follows the life of goth teen Lydia Deetz [who- in the film version- was played by one of my first celebrity crushes: Winona Ryder!], who lives in the small suburb of Peaceful Pines, and her wisecracking supernatural friend Beetlejuice, who can only be summoned into the natural world [or sent back to his own otherworldly realm] by repeating his name 3 times..

This Beetlejuice box set is being officially released on May 28 2013, and [unfortunately for me] will be available exclusively through Amazon. They are taking preorders now however.. I gotta say, I'm fucking stoked for this; because I'm a sucker for box sets of my childhood favorite shows [one such box set I have is the box set from the 1967 animated series of Spider-Man on DVD] So naturally, this one is going to have to be purchased as well- if I can get 'Goosebumps' & 'Are You Afraid Of The Dark?' as well I'm good to go. What are some of your favorite shows? [current/childhood favorites]  Let me know on the fan page for this blog on Facebook; which you can find here, in the comments below or on Twitter here . If you have a Tumblr, follow me here. Movie Review: ParaNorman [2012]

So if you have me on Facebook or Twitter [or for some of you; both], you'd be already aware that this review was inevitable.. So here I am, sharing my thoughts on something I'd call one of my new favorite stop motion animation movies: ParaNorman.
———————————————————————————–
According to IMDb, The movie ParaNorman is [in short] about 'A misunderstood boy who can speak with the dead, takes on ghosts, zombies and grown-ups to save his town from a centuries-old curse.' Now as with all reviews [or atleast, MY reviews], there is to be spoilers coming up; so if you haven't seen the movie yet [it is fairly new] do not read further, unless of course, you're okay with spoilers..
———————————————————————————–
The movie begins with a zombie eating a woman, and you can clearly tell that this is a scene from a movie within the movie [inception much?] and we learn of Norman watching an old horror movie with his grandmother, who turns out to be deceased. [below- his grandmother talking]
Through out the movie, we learn that Norman can actually speak to ghosts and for the first 80 percent of the movie, everyone finds that he's looking for attention, and that he's different. [There are even scenes where people have written 'FREAK' on his locker] Now there is one kid- Neil, who actually becomes his friend [Left to Right: Neil, Norman]
I found through out the movie, he was probably one of the best characters. I find that he has a positive outlook on life, and actually helps Norman out. [Neil was bullied as well, but told Norman that you can't stop that kind of thing..] I found through out the movie, there was a lot of fun characters [including a gay one, which we don't learn of his sexuality until the end] and the animation was superb. One character in particular stuck out; Courtney. Courtney is Norman's sister, and she is the stereotypical blonde we hear/read jokes about. Let me make it easier for you;
———————————————————————————–

Now throughout the movie, every time I heard Courtney speak, she sounded familiar; like I knew the voice actress.. It wasn't til the end credits, that I figured it out.. It was none other than Anna Kendrick.. y'know: She was in Scott Pilgrim VS The World- as Scott's sister ! Here, let me show you a picture.
http://www.interviewmagazine.com/files/2010/08/11/img-kendrick-2-_10133212143.jpg
[Not even close to being a stereotypical blonde, and obviously a lot more attractive than her character counter-part..]
———————————————————————————–
When it comes to some of the things I liked about ParaNorman, there was a lot I could mention. For starters, I like the fact that it was animated [I can't imagine that movie being live action..] and that there were references to horror movies.

I mean look at all those posters ! [some of them, if you look carefully enough, were drawn by Norman] But I think one of the best parts about this film is how it's supposed to be a children's movie, yet there is so many references to adult themes, such as [as mentioned before] a gay character, violence, a lot of bullying, etc. The one thing that stood out is that there is a feeling of Chicken Little in the sense that every time Norman speaks to a ghost, everyone looks at him like he's nuts. [Okay, bad example] Yet, when the world actually starts to tear apart, and he learns of the zombies coming; he starts yelling that 'The dead are coming!' and everyone looks at him weird again, his Dad actually gives him trouble on the way home from school telling him he's well ashamed of his son- [the whole car driving discussion happened in Chicken Little too..], but apart from those two little things I found irritating, I actually highly recommend this movie to everyone who enjoys the occasional zombie flick- cause this one was done well, on that note; I leave you with a few pictures from the movie. . CHEERS
