'you can't take a picture of this: It's already gone..' [Six Feet Under]

The Fishers

 When I think of television shows that have truly moved me, I don't think modern TV shows like Breaking Bad, Orange Is The Black, or even Dexter [although, I fucking LOVE me some Dexter]. I immediately think of my true love for the Fisher family from Six Feet Under. It's the most real television I've ever watched: there's love, there's hate, there's even death - a lot of it. However, that's the beauty of the show; that life is precious, and that no matter what happens: family is there.

father and son.
I was first introduced to this show when I was about 15 [I'm now 22], and it actually got me curious about the funeral business [which I ironically enough work in now] and how it works 'behind the scenes'. I learned about different things like how family plan the arrangements, and even how real the pain can feel when a loved one passes on. For this reason, I fell in love with the show even more when I started working for a funeral home; because I feel like I understand better. As I said, it's the most real television I've ever watched; so much in fact [and I don't mean to circle-jerk like everyone else] that the SERIES FINALE crushed me. I cried so fucking hard- and I haven't ever done that because of a show!

the beginning of the end: Everyone's Waiting.

I guess it's because I grew to love the Fisher family so fucking much; we learn about their personal lives, and the pains they go through. after five [almost] perfect seasons, how could you not feel what they felt? You grow to care for them, and feel hurt when they hurt: It's almost painful to watch, yet you're too fucking sucked in to turn it off, because of it getting better and better!

I mean, I guess I should mention Michael C Hall being naked [more than once] in this masterpiece..

Wednesday. June 4th. 2014  marked the 13th year anniversary since we were first introduced to the Fishers: who will forever be my favorite television family.. I miss you guys - a lot. It's like the show proves: 'Everything. Everyone. Everywhere. Ends..'  I'm starting to think it's time to restart the series [I felt like I struck gold when I got the complete series for only $50! thank you pawn shops!], because I know that it's calling me back - especially as someone who works in the funeral industry.

I'm okay. just breathe, I'm not going to cry, I'm not going to - fuck.

As I finish this post, I look up at the DVD shelf, while the box set[s] for Six Feet Under stare me in the eyes. Telling me to start fresh: and maybe I will, but not now- I'm not ready to breakdown..again.

Rob Zombie teams up with an 'American Psycho' for a Charles Manson mini series?

http://cdn.bloody-disgusting.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/zombie_2.jpg

If you haven't heard already, Variety officially released news [on Thursday night] that American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis and Rob Zombie – who we all know wrote/directed House Of 1,000 Corpses, Devil’s Rejects, and [the disappointing] Lords Of Salem – are officially working with a company known as "Alcon Television" to create a new project for Fox that will be about the people and the connecting  events connected to the Manson Family murder spree that took place back in August 1969. This news has been long coming, because I remember when Zombie had said that he is making a new series "that will be like, but not connected to, The Devil's Rejects". I remember when I first saw The Devil's Rejects and I felt awe, shock, [and mainly] amazement that he was willing to go this far with a 'family' that went around killing for the sake of killing; and [assuming you've seen the film: spoilers] ultimately- the 'Firefly' family got what was coming to them. Was The Devil's Rejects loosely based on the Manson murders? I couldn't tell you; but the concept is pretty similar. Therefore, makes sense that Rob Zombie would direct a [mini]series based around the Manson murders.

[The main 'family' in The Devil's Rejects; coincidence?]
———————————————————————————–

 So when are we getting this Manson Family TV show? It may take a while, as it aims to tell converging stories of people and events leading up to and then also after the murders, from shifting it's point of view. [which I assume means that we'll see the point of view of the people affected; and of the killers.] It's planned to be released as a multi-part series, but at this moment in time, it's [really] far away from receiving a green light, due to it's obvious graphic nature. I think this series is gonna be fantastic when released, especially considering my interest in the Manson killings; I just hope we're not waiting too long. I mean, I'm still waiting for Rob Zombie's Tyrannosaurus Rex [as seen below] and that was supposed to be released fucking 5 years ago! [soon, Warren.. soon.]

{FUN FACT: Charles Manson was sentenced to death in 1971, but his sentence was then changed to life in prison when California abolished the death penalty the following year. He has since been denied parole more than 12 times!}

Guillermo Del Toro is working on The Simpsons' NEWEST 'Treehouse Of Horrors!'

http://www2.macleans.ca/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/586353_f496.jpg

Wen I first got into The Simpsons, the one thing that stuck out specifically was the Halloween specials. I always found that Matt Groening knew what he was doing because each and every "Treehouse Of Horror" was significantly different than the ones previous.. or at least until recently. [I feel that they're slowly becoming a bit bland..] Be that as it may, The Simpsons are now on their XXIV [that's "24th" for those that aren't good with roman numerals.] Treehouse Of Horror and it turns out that Guillermo Del Toro is helping out!

———————————————————————————–

 for those unaware, Del Toro is the man behind some amazing movies such as [but not limited to]; Hellboy [1 & 2], Pan's Labyrinth, Chronos, Pacific Rim, among many others! Treehouse Of Horror XXIV arrives on October 6th, 2013 and it sounds like it could be really good![here's hoping!] The following quote is from the press release about The Treehouse Of Horrors XXIV, and it actually gives me some hope for the newest addition from The Simpsons!
"The opener of the 24th annual “Treehouse of Horror” is from Guillermo Del Toro and features monsters and classic characters from horror films throughout history. In “Oh The Places You’ll D’oh,” the first of three spine-tingling stories, Homer rides around Springfield wreaking havoc as “The Fat in The Hat” in a rhyming Dr. Seuss-ian tale. In “Dead and Shoulders,” Bart is beheaded during a kite accident, his head is attached to Lisa’s body and they must live together as one. The final terrifying tale, “Freaks no Geeks,” features Mr. Burns’ traveling circus, The Burnsum and Bailey Circus, which has stopped in Springfieldland in the 1930s. Trapeze artist Marge and Strong Man Homer are performers and things go awry when circus freak Moe starts to make advances towards Marge in the all-new “Treehouse of Horror XXIV” episode of The Simpsons” airing Sunday, Oct. 6 (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT) on FOX."
Personally, I think that Guillermo Del Toro will be an awesome addition because he has knowledge of the horror genre, and he is a fantastic writer/director. However, I haven't ever thought about him working on an animated series, so I guess I'll have to watch in order to really decide.

First teaser for 'American Horror Story; Coven'

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/p480x480/1014373_495861750486016_1607088487_n.jpg

If you remember back earlier last year, I talked about how insane this show really is. I instantly became an “American Horror Story” fan, and dove into the first [and second] seasons with pure joy. It's absolutely one of the greatest pieces of television in the sense that it's got drama and horror. I was already finding myself looking forward to October 9th as that's when the [third] season premiere of “American Horror Story: coven” is being released. This being the third season of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s horror anthology TV series promises to be fucking crazy considering the title of the first three episodes [more on those in a minute], plus the fact that this show is always out of its mind. [do I have to remind you of "American Horror Story; Asylum"?! now that's horror TV!] Ryan Murphy has also already released the names of the first episodes which I happen to have mentioned here for you;
  • Season 3, Episode 01 – “Bitchcraft” [which will air on October 9th 2013]
  • Season 3, Episode 02 – “Boy Parts”[which will air on October 16th 2013]
  • Season 3, Episode 03 – “The Replacements” [which will air on October 23th 2013]

Also, the website Vulture reported that Ryan Murphy explained in an interview the following-
 “The witches of Salem, the smart ones, got out very early and they were none of the ones who were burned. They all gravitated toward New Orleans, where they now live, and every generation has a great witch who has the most powers of them all, and that’s called the Supreme. Jessica Lange is The Supreme. These witches are really sort of a great allegory and metaphor for any minority group that has been persecuted and has had to go underground and, finally, is like, ‘You know what? Dammit, no. We’re fighting back,’ so that’s what they do. Fight back.."

Throwback TV Show; Six Feet Under

Last night, around 5:00, as I realized I was quite literally the only one in the house [except for maybe the cats] because the grandparents were at their monthly "Supper Club", My sister was at her friend's, and Steph was at work until closing [which meant 9:30ish]. So I decided to go back and watch an episode or two of what I consider my favorite television show of all time: Six Feet Under. For those that haven't heard of the show, it isn't exactly for the faint of heart- although it's not gory, or remotely scary.. just [for lack of a better term] accurate. It's a drama series from HBO that takes a darkly comical look at members of a dysfunctional family that runs an independent funeral home. The series begins with the oldest son returning home for the holidays to shattering news, the family must learn to deal with a death of their own, while figuring out how to go ahead with the business of the living. So basically, a funny [and emotional] look at a grieving American family...that just happens to be in the grief management business. I first watched this show back when it was on in 2001; and wasn't the biggest fan- until I continued watching as I laughed, cried, and pushed through life with The Fishers [the main family] I decided to pick up where I left off [naturally], which was a few episodes off from finishing off season 3. I forgot how much I actually fell in love with this show- the characters are fantastic, the story-telling is beautiful, and the directing is superb.

———————————————————————————–

One episode in particular that I watched; "Death Works Overtime" was one of the saddest things I've ever watched [except for the famous series finale; "Everyone's Waiting"] to the point where I actually cried along as the viewer watches Nate [as seen in the middle of the picture above] breakdown with tears streaming down his face.. Steph even asked what was wrong when she called my cell. I couldn't get over how upset I felt. Never [until this show] have I ever cried, due to a show- I just couldn't hold it back.. and this is what I mean; when a show can affect you to such an extreme, it's then you know you have a fantastic show. I do intend to go and finish Season 3, primarily because I love this show, I need to finish up to thge series end- Season5, and also because it ended on a cliffhanger [I still have 2 episodes to go and then on to Season4!]. If I haven't said it already [and I'm pretty sure I have before] this is one of the best shows that has ever been on TV, and I am so glad I found it.. It made me realize that life is important, and that one of the best shows; deals with death.. One last thing I'll leave you with [in case you didn't notice/know already]; that is Michael C. Hall you're seeing in the picture above- he actually plays the younger brother; David. [as seen below]

[I loved him before he was in Dexter]
