Isabelle Fuhrman cast in Stephen King's CELL

http://www.childstarlets.com/captures/samples/isabelle_fuhrman_orphan250.jpg

Do you remember Isabelle Fuhrman? - She's best known from the movie ORPHAN [pictured above] and she was also in the first film of THE HUNGER GAMES. According to Deadline however, she has recently been cast in Stephen King's novel to film adaptation of CELL. the plot summary of CELL is about a certain New England artist [named Clayton Riddell] is struggling to reunite with his son after a mysterious signal - known as 'The Pulse' is broadcasted over the global cell phone networks and thus turns the majority of his fellow humans around him [and in his town] into mindless vicious animals. y'know.. like zombies.

 Isabelle Fuhrman has been cast as Alice Maxwell and will be working along side Samuel L. Jackson and John Cusack. Her character, Alice, is a character who teams up with Clayton to head North in order to help him find his son.

Trailer of the day: RoboCop [Remake] 2014

 https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhtvryyVm2eangqSYDp8RxxUluw5SbILSqUmnVkBCCCB6CWn80zrDJxDAALe6jGiQXCWqbMKsuQgyoolAgeXShGx9091Gfq6a2TupYGwp7IYWbML2YXkzJnLQLqKcREU9YE9mEqzGc8Gs/s400/robocop-old-vs-new1.jpg

Oh, childhood! I still remember when I was younger and I saw the original Robocop film. It was awe inspiring, graphic, and pretty damn bad-ass! Flash forward to today and we've got a Hollywood utopia that has almost no originality left and a dozen and one remakes that either have been or are being made. One such remake, is Robocop. I'm sure I'm not the only one who suspected this would happen, and so today we got ourselves the first official trailer for the 2014 release of this remake.

———————————————————————————–

Although, I'm not 100 percent sure I know how I feel about this remake; it has a lot of big names attached [one of which is Samuel L Jackson who is in his SECOND remake this year: first one being the OLDBOY REMAKE] to it so that at least much is promising. The one thing that veteran Robocop watchers will notice almost immediately is the change in suit. They've switched the classic silver-y/gray suit to a more militant black. [as seen in the headline picture above] You've gotta hand it to the writers of this specific remake though.. the new suit looks pretty damn impressive- and with a budget of [a mere] $100,000,000... you really can't go wrong with a new suit. I suppose all that's left now is to see the actual movie [that or see another trailer]. Robocop is being released into theaters everywhere in February 2014: so until we know more.. be sure to hit me up in the comments below about what you liked and don't like about this remake of a classic action/cop film. [I've left the newly released trailer for Robocop down below.]

First World Problems [of living in Canda].

http://static.hypable.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/san-diego-comic-con-2013-line-up.jpg

 I'd just like to throw it out there before anyone attacks me with messages, that I love the fact that I'm Canadian. I love the people, the snow [until I feel like I'm freezing to death..], and most importantly the beavers. However, if there's one thing that I find is irritating beyond a doubt is the fact that we've only had [in my area anyways] 2 comic-cons in total.. and even if there were people like William Shatner or Lou Ferrigno; sometimes I feel I want more than that. [call me selfish]. That's what brings me to the point of "San Diego Comic Con; International". This place is definitely on my bucket list. Not only do they attract millions of people every year but they get some insane guests that come to Comic Con for questions&answering. Who are some of these guests? Allow me to list off a few that were there this past weekend [up until tomorrow].

———————————————————————————–

NUMBER ONE; Neil Gaiman [writer of 'Sandman' and 'Coraline']
http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lu9b2is0El1r65cx0o1_500.jpg

———————————————————————————–

NUMBER TWO; Chuck Palahniuk [author of 'Fight Club']
http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Film/Pix/pictures/2008/10/21/lee_palahniuk460.jpg

 ———————————————————————————–

NUMBER THREE; Irwin Keyes [actor in Rob Zombie's 'House Of 1000 Corpses']
http://cdn5.actorhunters.com/pics/b9/0f/Irwin-Keyes-0467b.jpg

———————————————————————————–
 I guess what I'm trying to say is that [in my opinion anyways], the 'San Diego Comic Con' gets all the more recently known actors/writers/artists. [they had the cast of Dexter a few years back.. I'd have LOVED to have been there] I guess I should be thankful for the fact that us in Ontario now have our own smaller version of a comic con, I'm just hopeful that one day it'll expand- and we'll ultimately get even more awesome people like Neil Gaiman!

http://cmro.travis-starnes.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/sandman.jpg
[any author who draws an epic such as 'Sandman' -above- is someone I have to meet!]
———————————————————————————–
So now I'll leave it to you. Have you ever been to a Comic Convention? Maybe it wasn't a comic convention, but another kind of convention? What was it like- did it live up to your expectations? Let's talk comic books and their movie adaptations..

 Sometimes, it can become difficult to add all the elements/characters of a comic book/novel into a movie because of timing, or simply because they couldn't make it fit into the story. [take The Lord Of The Rings films for example; those are some fucking long movies.. and they still missed parts from the books.] Other times, Hollywood decides to change something entirely, and hardcore fans find themselves mislead, and ultimately- upset. Now, although we can't promise that everything will go the way we want it [we can always dream, right?]; sometimes a few characters have to be left behind, or even changed- all for the sake of the movie. Here, I've compiled a list of a few comic book movie adaptations that I feel may or may not offend some people..
———————————————————————————–
  • Number One- Josh Whedon says that Loki will not be in Avengers 2;

  Although not said exactly like that, he pretty well hinted at it when he spoke on The Empire Podcast. About half an hour into the interview, he spoke about [very small] details about what he's coming up with for Avengers2 and then he went and dropped the bomb:
'Everyone is going to be looking for the Loki-Hulk smash moment [in Avengers 2] First of all, imitating what I did before is the surest way to do it not as well. Second of all, Loki’s not there to say those terrible things. Although I do think we should bring the word back. Not as an insult, it’s just a nice word..' -Josh Whedon
What does this mean? Time will tell, I suppose..

———————————————————————————–
  • Number Two- John C. Riley has been confirmed as Rhomann Dey in Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy;
http://8th-circuit.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/500x262/nova_prime_feature_r.s.jpg
Don't get me wrong, I laugh every time I watch Stepbrothers, because John C. Riley is hilarious.. Hell, I even liked watching him in Tim & Eric. However, I'm not so sure I know how I feel about him playing a superhero.. especially someone like Rhomann Dey, For those that don't know, Rhomann Dey is the Nova Corps leader in Guardians of the Galaxy, and will no doubt be the same in the movie adaptation.
However, according to HitFix, Marvel made an offer to John C. Reilly to take this part calling him “The Agent Coulson of the Guardians movies.” In the comics though, Rhomann Dey is the head of the Nova Corps and not a human being from planet Earth. So obviously, it seems that a few changes have been made to help make the character fit into the movie. let's just hope it works out for the better.

———————————————————————————–
 Number Three-  Doctor Strange has been confirmed for the Marvel Movie-verse Phase #3;
http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lpb894NNhj1qayht5.jpg

I could just say the following, because I've been waiting a long time to say it; fucking finally! After Spider-Man, I feel that Doc Strange is one of my favorite Marvel heroes. He's both smart, and extremely powerful. There hasn't been a definite say on who would be playing [Doctor] Stephen Strange, but Kevin Feige [a film producer and President of Production at Marvel Studios] has promised that a Doctor Strange movie will “definitely” be joining Ant Man in the Marvel Movie-verse. It won’t be for a while though, considering both of these movies are set for release AFTER the second Avengers film. Other than the points above, there's really not much else on Phase#3, except for the fact that Kevin Feige told MTV that if they wanted more characters to add to the Marvel movie-verse, "they wouldn't have to look too far.."
———————————————————————————–
So how do you feel about all these new comic to movie adaptations coming out? Are you sad that Loki won't be in Avengers2? [I know I am!] What about the Doctor Strange movie; yay or nay? Let me know! TONS Of Exciting Things- Coming Soon !

So I'm aware I haven't posted for about 3 weeks, but this is primarily due to more important things, such as work, [this is my 2nd day off since Iron Man 3 came out] or [even more recently] packing.. when I say packing, I don't mean for a day trip out to the beach [it is certainly nice out now that Summer is in full swing], or going away for a weekend. What I mean is, it turns out, Stephanie and I got the apartment we were looking at !! So therefore, I may not be posting for awhile into June, etc until we get internet, and get things running [this is a heads up]. Also, in other news, My [future] Brother-In-Law, [Stephanie's Brother] recently had his first child/son, making me an uncle ! [welcome to the world Kaiden!] But onto the real stuff you're here for, there's a bunch of new films, a few new comic book adaptations, and [of course..] even more sequels coming our way; so let's take a look at these..

———————————————————————————–

Number 1- Marvel's Vampire Hunter Blade has a [reboot] script in the works;

FINALLY! and yes, you did read that right.. Blade is getting a reboot! Although we already have had three fairly decent Blade films already, [including my personal favorite "Blade Trinity"] it seems that the screenrights have returned to Marvel, meaning that they are going to [re]make the film[s]; and hopefully, it'll look fantastic. [especially now that Marvel has ownership, and with all the technology today- we can pull off what they couldn't in '98]

———————————————————————————–

Number 2- Cabin Fever is getting not TWO but instead THREE new sequels..

Remember back when the first Cabin Fever came out, and it was one of those horror movies you actually enjoyed watching? watching everyone get all bloodied up and mutilated, and yet- it had some kind of magic that made it hard to look away? I remember that; it was a good time- it was one of those movies, that brings a smile to a horror fans face.. now if you were to flash forward 7 years from when the first one came out [2002] we got a sequel called "Cabin Fever 2; Spring Fever". [which I haven't seen- it looked bland, and ever so boring..feel free to call me out otherwise] You'd assume this would be enough to push things along, but it's been reported that we're getting not two, but three more "Cabin Fever" films.The only ones that are known are Cabin Fever; Patient Zero and another by the name of Cabin Fever; Outbreak.

———————————————————————————–

Number 3- Godzilla is getting a remake..again?

This one is kind of hard to mention a lot about since not much is known as of yet; however it's actually a reboot of the 1954 Godzilla film. I am excited however, because it's being filmed in British Columbia.. although I'm in Ontario, it's the little things, like being filmed in Canada that make me happy. What makes this even more exciting is knowing big name actors like Aaron Taylor-Johnson [Kick-Ass] and Bryan Cranston [Breaking Bad] are attached to the film- so it's going to have to be pretty damn good with this line up!

———————————————————————————–

So, tell me; are you as excited as I am for some of these films? Or am I just an over obsessed fan? Characters which were NOT in the LOTR films [that should have been]:

As a geek at heart, I should probably mention that I always have [and probably always will] have a soft spot in my heart for "The Lord Of The Rings" series. First off, when I first saw the movies/read the books, I refused to tell myself that I enjoy them. [I was way too much of a fan-boy for Harry Potter, since I read those first] However, now that I'm older and I've re-watched the trilogy, I'm realizing how much I really do enjoy the story, the mythology behind it, and the characters in general. The main thing that hit me, was that there are characters from the books, which never made their way into the films.. In this list, I will mention 5 of them [obviously there are more though] along with a small definition of them [in case you haven't read the books]..

———————————————————————————–
 http://sjaejones.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/glorfindel.jpg
 #01; Glorfindel-
Remember the part in The Fellowship Of The Ring when Frodo got stabbed by The Witch King & suddenly, Arwen showed up on her white horse and saved his life by taking him to Rivendell? Well..what you were really supposed to be seeing was a character by the name of Glorfindel. He's the one who arrived at the scene, and brought our dear Frodo to safety. Arwen doesn’t show up until way later!

 #02; Melkor-
Put simply, Melkor was the very first dark Lord. Sauron, who everyone knows as the big bad guy of the LOTR series, was actually this guy’s apprentice. According to the books, when the world was first being created, Melkor was constantly fighting against it; doing this caused valleys to raise, if that wasn't enough, he also was known for smashing the fucking shit out of mountains. When Sauron was eventually killed, Melkor ended up getting his ass banished into the void. [although he cannot be killed] Ultimately, it has been prophesied that one day, he will return. He’s not precisely the nicest guy in the Lord Of The Rings world..

———————————————————————————–

http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100417100302/indebanvandering/nl/images/e/e7/Fingolfin2.jpg
 #03; Fingolfin-
 Fingolfin was an elven king who challenged Melkor to a one on one fight. Melkor [naturally] accepted, but he wasn’t anywhere close to prepared for what he had coming. Fingolfin actually wounded Melkor’s face over 5 times, and Melkor found himself in eternal pain ever since. Unfortunately, Melkor ended up triumphing over Fingolfin mainly because he was what was considered a Valar [which in the LOTR universe, means nearly a God] & Fingolfin was nothing but an elf. Also, Fingolfin was also one of Aragorn’s earliest ancestors.

———————————————————————————–

http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lym6tx5WrG1r483nlo1_1280.jpg

#04; Beorn [the Berserker]-
As it seems, we didn’t see Beorn in the first of the three Hobbit films, however, Bilbo and the others [the dwarves] haven't exactly made it to the town of Mirkwood yet, so there’s a good chance we’ll see him in one of the next two movies. [here's hoping!] Beorn was a giant and actually has the ability to shape-shift into a bear at will. He was driven out of his homeland when it was overrun by Orcs. We seem him living as a hermit when he meets up with Bilbo and friends.

———————————————————————————–

http://www.councilofelrond.com/wp-content/uploads/modules/My_eGallery/gallery/fanart/invitedartists/eissmann/atalante_starC_tom.jpg

#05; Tom Bombadil-
Tom Bombadil is an special character, for one very important reason: The One Ring does absolutely nothing to him! You could chain him up against a wall with the ring glued to his face for over a thousand years, and the ring still wouldn’t tempt him with its power. Frodo and the other Hobbits met Tom in The Old Forest, early on during the beginning of their journey. They met when Merry gets trapped inside a living tree, and Tom saves his life by singing to the tree [weird, I know..] which ends up releasing him. Bombadil seems to hold a tremendous amount of power which we never really learn the full extent of. Tom can also see Frodo while he is wearing the Ring-so we know that almost at all times, Tom is watching them. When Frodo lets him see the Ring, Tom wears it, and yet nothing happens. He then makes the Ring totally vanish, but then reproduces it and gives it back to Frodo.

———————————————————————————–
As I've mentioned above, there's many characters who weren't in the Lord Of The Rings films.. [Even ones who weren't mentioned here] I know the films are long as it is, but even just a mention of them, would have been suffice. April 2013 looks to be the month for us horror fans..

Seriously. There is a good number of horror films [that actually look good; not like that "Cockney's vs Zombies" crap, that's playing right in the theater where I work right now- even if that's for the film festival..] that are coming out in April, and there are two that I'm actually looking forward to. Back on January 5th 2013, I mentioned how Carrie was being pushed til October making us [I say 'us', because I'm sure I'm not the only one who's excited] have to wait a little longer than expected. However, there is TWO horror movies, that have actually been pushed forward, rather than back. Below, I mention which ones, and my thoughts.
———————————————————————————–

NUMBER 1; The Evil Dead [remake]

So I won't lie; when I first heard this was being remade, I got upset.. I knew for a fact that Hollywood has become obsessed with remaking almost every movie that I hold dear [forgive my abrupt rant] and ruining it dearly. and now my 2nd favorite horror film [first being 'A Nightmare On Elm Street-original] is being remade. HOWEVER, after the red band trailer came out, which can be found here, I changed my mind drastically. I had some of the same feelings watching the trailer, as I did watching the original film.. [Also, keeping a close eye on Bruce Campbell's tweets helped as well.] This film has been pushed forward a week now being released to theaters on April 5th, 2013.

 https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgavWmYtc6mXQKOBuJrcrdueYMpQzul_P16RHXw7stHtJTC4UI1z-WVGGWi3Gx2Pthp62qNhWFzXVcloQpD6XhKm8PPRLO-gnARfdYYczDTXol7QHi6E15Sq46H0k4EFuakkH-1sLJa0Ak/s320/BruceCampbell.jpg
on Twitter, he actually claimed he's proud of the remake, & fully approves of the end result. fuck yes!
———————————————————————————–

NUMBER 2; The Lords Of Salem

With an official trailer for this film which just came out the other day, [you can see it in all it's glory, here] I figured that this film needs to be mentioned. I first mentioned this movie on December 20th, 2012; and talked about how stoked I was for it because it's [finally] an original Rob Zombie flick. [probably the first 'original' from him since 'The Devil's Rejects'- which is quite superb, if I may say.] It features a lot of actors/actress I've never even heard of; [except the always wonderful, Sheri-Moon Zombie, as seen in the poster above.] It was meant to be released on April 26th, 2013; however, many people demanded sooner [hopefully this won't ruin the quality of the film, due to being rushed.] and now it's actual release date is April 19th, 2013 [also a week earlier than before] There was also a collection of posters made for this film, rather than just the one with Sheri-Moon Zombie on the front, and those can be seen below;

Hollywood, You BLOCKHEAD !

 damn-charliefhfhf.jpg

Good Grief ! As if Hollywood hasn't run out of ideas already, 20th Century Fox Animation plans on bringing Charlie Brown and the Gang to theaters.. The following, is how it's been posted by the L.A Times [below];
"Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus and the gang are coming to the big screen, as 20th Century Fox Animation and its Blue Sky Studios unit announced Tuesday that they have acquired the rights to Charles M. Schulz's iconic "Peanuts" comic strip.The planned movie, the product of an agreement between the studio and Schulz's heirs, is scheduled to arrive in theaters Nov. 25, 2015. Steve Martino, who directed Fox's "Ice Age: Continental Drift" and "Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who," is to direct from a screenplay by Craig Schulz, Bryan Schulz and Cornelius Uliano. Craig Schulz is the famous cartoonist's son, and Bryan Schulz his grandson."We have been working on this project for years," Craig Schulz, president of Charles M. Schulz Creative Associates, said in a statement. "We finally felt the time was right and the technology is where we need it to be to create this film."
———————————————————————————–
Truthfully, I don't know what I think about this.. We know that it's going to be CGI animation [considering we haven't seen an actual 2D animated movie in forever!] & it's going to be directed by the same guy who did Horton Hears A Who and the Ice Age movies. Luckily however, the screenplay is being co-written by Charles M. Schulz's [The original Peanuts creator] heirs. Hopefully, it will be done well, as they hopefully will be able to follow through with how their past family member wanted it to be ? Either way, I'm worried as all hell for this; I'm slowly losing my faith in Hollywood- assuming I haven't already. What do you guys think? Do you think it'll be done well? are you worried about this version of Charlie Brown and the Gang? Or are you in good faith that this is going to be done well? Sound off in the comments, or let me know on the Facebook page ! CHEERS
